The process of getting connected to the nbn™ network is dependent on your location, so to find out what will happen at your place, you can check your address to see if you’re location is ready to go.

Installation and equipment

nbn™ plan to use a mix of technologies to deliver the nbn™ network, using the best-fit technology for the location. The process to getting started and any installation requirements differ by technology so to get accurate information on how to connect check your address here or call our Customer Care Team on 1300 857 863 and we can perform a service qualification for you. By checking your address you can find out if the nbn™ network is available to you and exactly what equipment you need to get connected at your address.

Renting or leasing

Once you have checked your address and know the installation procedure we are planning for your home you should contact your landlord or agent as you may need permission. In the case where a landlord firmly objects we suggest contacting your local tenant advice service or union as the laws may differ between states and regions.

Cabling

Checking your address will provide the information you need about the installation at your address. We can then discuss your current set up in preparation for your order to find out exactly what you will need. If you are considering buying a house or business premises within a new development, read the fact sheet about the cabling requirements for new developments (PDF).

Specialist business services

We recommend businesses allow plenty of time to plan and move their services. Businesses should be ordering an nbn™ business plan at least 12 months before the date from which the existing network is planned to be switched off. See additional advice for your business services.
